  • The 78th Professor Schell Trophy
    October 27, 2018
    The MMA sailing team wrapped up their fall season this weekend, attending the Fall Championship, at Dartmouth for the first time since 2008. The eight week fall sailing season culminates each year with the top-18 teams in New England, battling for the chance to take home the Schell Trophy—named after Professor Schell of MIT, the founder of college sailing.
  • MMA Sailors Earn Spot in New England Fall Championship

    As the Fall season winds down for MMA Sailors, Mott Blair, David Estes, Ellis Heminway, Olivia Mitchell, Lucas Healy, & August Campbell travelled to Boston, Mass. to compete in the Oberg Trophy—the last regatta of the regular season.
  • McMillian Cup
    October 14, 2018
    Elijah Gass, Corinne Poitras, Thomas Dugan, Ellis Heminway, Conlon Ranta, Henry Adams, Drew Cry, & Luke Healy lead the charge to Annapolis, MD for the annual McMillan Cup, sailed in Navy 44's, the service academy standard keelboat. A trick boat to step into, MMA sailors sailed well on Saturday in 15-20kt winds, and spent extra time Saturday & Sunday practicing to move up in the rankings on Day 2. Unfortunately, the wind did not match their intensity, and racing was abandoned early on Sunday.

    MMA Sailors travelled to multiple regattas this weekend, one team traveled to Naval Academy for the MacMillan Cup, and two teams to University of Vermont for Callagy Ross Trophy.
  • George Warren Smith Trophy

    MMA Sailors traveled to Boston, Mass. this weekend to sail at MIT on the Charles River. A typically difficult venue, between narrow racing area, and skyline causing shifty winds, this weekend was also made tricky by consistent light wind.
  • Salt Pond Invite

    MMA Sailors Mott Blair, Owen White, Corinne Poitras, Luke Healy, Tristan Walker, Olivia Mitchell, Jack Fraizer travelled to University of Rhode Island this weekend to compete againt 17 other New England schools in the Salt Pond Regatta.
  • Penobscot Bay Open

    11 teams came to Maine Maritime Academy this weekend to compete in the Penobscot Bay Open, from as far south as University of Rhode Island.
  • Harman Cup
    September 09, 2018
    Eight Teams traveled to Maine Maritime Academy for the Harman Cup this weekend, a keelboat regatta that is a qualifier for Match Race New Englands. Harman Cup Sailors enjoyed steady 12-18kt winds in Penobscot Bay all day Saturday, with lighter winds on Sunday.
  • Around Islesboro Regatta
    September 08, 2018
    The Summer Sailing Program sailed their last and longest race of the season on September 8, joining Northport Yacht Club's 32nd Around Islesboro Regatta. The team sailed Tasman with a fleet of 42 boats on the 28nm course.
  • MS Harborfest Regatta

    This past weekend, Maine Maritime's Summer Sailing Program took part in the MS Harborfest Regatta to help race for a cure.
  • Sailing Team Update: Turtle Head Trot Canceled

    Last weekend, team members in the Maine Maritime Summer Sailing Program took advantage of the rainy weather to check some projects off the to do list and get some work done on Tasman. Cleats were replaced, the Ockams system was mounted, the boat was cleaned, and sails were inventoried and measured.
  • Camden Summer Series 3 & 4

    Over the weekend, a team of students, staff, alumni, and guests participated in the Camden Summer Series Races 3 & 4 as part of the Maine Maritime Summer Sailing Program
  • Maine State PHRF Championship
    July 15, 2018
    The Maine Maritime Academy Summer Sailing Program participated in the Maine State PHRF Championship on July 14th and 15th. Hosted by Front Street Shipyard, Tasman joined 18 other boats for the race from Rockport to Belfast on Saturday before returning to Lincolnville on Sunday, and finished 2nd overall.
  • RYC Rockland Solstice Race

    After a slow start, the team was able to capitalize on light winds to overtake most of the fleet, finishing 2nd overall on a shortened course.
  • Camden Summer Series 1 & 2

    A team of sailors competed aboard Tasman this past weekend in the Camden Summer Series 1 & 2. This race is part of the Gulf of Maine Ocean Racing Association (GMORA) PHRF Series.
