Women's Basketball Defeats Owls to Claim KSC Tip-Off Title

KEENE, N.H. – Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball defeated Keene State College, 49-46 on Saturday afternoon in the KSC Tip-Off Tournament Championship Game.

How It Happened: Despite facing a 16-13 deficit after the first quarter, the Mariners outscored the Owls 22-10 in the third quarter, including going 10-of-11 from the line, to claim the victory.

Inside the Numbers: Alayne Felix (Mahopac, N.Y.) tallied a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Mariners, while adding two steals, two blocks and an assist.

Megan McLean (Eliot, Maine) added 10 rebounds, nine points, and three assists.

Emily McPadden led Keene with 10 points, three rebounds and three assists and teammate Kenzie Bennett added nine points, eight rebounds, two steals and an assist.

The Mariners held a 43-39 edge in rebounds.

Up Next: The Mariners improve to 2-0 on the season, while the Owls drop to 1-1 overall. Maine Maritime travels to Bard College next weekend for the Raptors Tip-Off Tournament. The Mariners will take on Bay Path on Saturday, November 17 at 2:00 p.m.
