CANTON, N.Y. – Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball secured the season sweep over SUNY Canton with a 64-48 victory in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday afternoon at the Stan Cohen Court.
How it Happened: The Mariners outscored the Kangaroos 13-7 in the first quarter and 27-11 in the second to take a 40-18 lead at halftime.
Canton outscored the Mariners 17-7 in the third quarter but the Mariners held on in the fourth quarter, shooting 44.4 percent from the floor.
Inside the Numbers: Megan McLean (Eliot, Maine) led the Mariners with a game-high 14 points, six assists, three rebounds, and a steal and Morgan Boudreau (Benton, Maine) added 13 points, five rebounds, and four steals.
Eryn Doiron (Wilton, Maine) pulled down a game-high nine rebounds to go along with six assists, four points and a steal.
Sade Rogers led Canton with 13 points, four assists and two rebounds and Tyberia Wallace contributed 12 points, a rebound and a steal.
The Mariners shot 37.3 percent from the floor, while the Kangaroos shot 28.6 percent. Maine Maritime held a 41-36 advantage in rebounds.
Up Next: The Mariners improve to 9-3 overall and 4-0 in the conference, while the Roos fall to 2-9 on the season and 1-3 in the NAC. Maine Maritime returns to action on Friday, January 11 when they head to Husson for a rematch of the 2017-2018 NAC Championship game at 7:30 pm.
