BANGOR, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball fell to Husson University 47-38, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Friday night inside of Newman Gymnasium.
How it Happened: The Mariners held a narrow 6-4 advantage after a defensive first quarter. The Mariners struggled from the floor in the second quarter, and the Eagles outscored the visitors 17-6 to take a 21-12 lead into halftime.
The Mariners scored 10-unanswered points in the third quarter to close the gap to 25-22, but the Eagles were hot from three-point land in the final quarter, going 5-of-8 from beyond the arc, to hang on for the victory.
By the Numbers: Alayne Felix (Mahopac, N.Y.) led the Mariners with 10 points, four rebounds, three assists and steal, while Lauren Plissey (Hermon, Maine) added a team-high 11 rebounds, nine points and a block.
Kenzie Worcester led the Eagles with 12 points, six assists, four rebounds and a steal, while Joan Overman tallied a double-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and an assist. Megan Peach added 11 rebounds, four points, four blocks and two steals.
The Mariners shot 24.1 percent from the floor, while the Eagles shot 32.7 percent. Maine Maritime held a 41-39 advantage in rebounds.
Up Next: The Mariners fall to 9-4 on the season and 4-1 in the conference, while the Eagles improve to 8-6 overall and 5-0 in the NAC. Maine Maritime returns to action on Tuesday, January 15 at Colby for a non-conference matchup at 5:30 pm.
