CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball cruised to a 64-39 victory over Thomas College on Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) inside of Smith Gymnasium.
How it Happened: The Mariners controlled the first quarter, until the Terriers went on a five-point run to close the gap to 13-10 at the end of the quarter. The Mariners outscored the Terriers 18-9 in the second quarter to take a commanding 32-18 lead into halftime.
The Terriers hung with the Mariners in the third quarter, but Maine Maritime maintained a double-figure lead and held the visitors to only five points in the fourth to claim the victory.
Inside the Numbers: Melinda Ogden (Searsport, Maine) led all players with 15 points and added six rebounds, an assist and a steal, while Megan McLean (Eliot, Maine) contributed 11 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Kaylee Ravagli was the only Terrier to reach double-digits with 10 points, three rebounds and three steals.
The Mariners shot 38.0 percent from the floor, while the Terriers shot 25.0 percent. Maine Maritime held a big advantage on the glass, outrebounding Thomas, 52-24.
Up Next: Maine Maritime improves to 12-5 overall and 6-2 in the conference, while the Terriers fall to 5-14 on the season and 4-6 on the NAC. The Mariners return to action on Tuesday, January 29 when they host UMaine-Fort Kent at 5:30 pm.
