CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball cruised past Northern Vermont University-Johnson 66-27, on Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action inside of Smith Gymnasium.
How it Happened: The Mariners held the Badgers to single-digit scoring in each of the four quarters on their way to securing the season sweep.
Inside the Numbers: Alayne Felix (Mahopac, N.Y.) led the Mariners with 17 points, five rebounds, an assist and a block.
Melinda Ogden (Searsport, Maine) added 14 points, six rebounds, and two assists, Lauren Plissey (Hermon, Maine) finished just shy of a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds, and Sydney Underhill-Tilton (Richmond, Maine) grabbed 10 rebounds to go with four points, two assists and a steal.
Mariah Ramos led the Badgers with 15 points, nine rebounds, one assist and one steal.
The Mariners shot 48.1 percent from the floor, while the Badgers shot 17.2 percent on the afternoon. Maine Maritime held a 57-27 edge in rebounds.
Up Next: The Mariners improve to 14-6 on the season and 8-2 in conference play, while the Badgers drop to 2-19 overall and 0-11 in the NAC. Maine Maritime returns to action on Tuesday night when they head to UMaine-Presque Isle for a 7:30 pm NAC matchup.
