Series History: The Mariners are 18-12 all-time against the Owls. UMPI is 5-4 all-time when hosting the Mariners.

Last Meeting: Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball fell to UMaine-Presque Isle 57-53, on January 19, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action inside of Smith Gymnasium.

The Mariners struggled to find offensive rhythm throughout the game, shooting just 26.2 percent from the floor and 14.7 percent from three-point land.

The Owls claimed the lead early and led by three entering the second quarter. Mikayla Charters (Newport, Maine) hit a three to open up the second quarter to tie the game at 15-15 but Rhylee Wright hit three unanswered three-pointers and two free throws to put the Owls up 26-15. Maine Maritime battled back and closed the deficit to 29-25 entering halftime.

The Mariners outscored the visitors 12-11 in the third quarter to cut UMPI's lead to 40-37, but the Owls began to pull away midway through the final quarter, taking a 50-39 lead. Maine Maritime closed the gap to one on two occasions, both times following a pair of free throws from Melinda Ogden (Searsport, Maine), but the Owls hung on for the win.

Alayne Felix (Mahopac, N.Y.) led all players with 17 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal and Ogden added 12 points, three rebounds, an assist and a steal.

Wright led the Owls with 15 points, eight rebounds, and a steal and Hunter Mercier contributed 13 points, four rebounds, an assist and a block.

The Owls shot 35.6 percent from the floor and 43.8 percent from three-point land while maintaining a 43-33 advantage in rebounds.

Maine Maritime Academy's Last Game: Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball cruised past Northern Vermont University-Johnson 66-27, last Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action inside of Smith Gymnasium.

The Mariners held the Badgers to single-digit scoring in each of the four quarters on their way to securing the season sweep.

Alayne Felix led the Mariners with 17 points, five rebounds, an assist and a block.

Melinda Ogden added 14 points, six rebounds, and two assists, Lauren Plissey (Hermon, Maine) finished just shy of a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds, and Sydney Underhill-Tilton (Richmond, Maine) grabbed 10 rebounds to go with four points, two assists and a steal.

Mariah Ramos led the Badgers with 15 points, nine rebounds, one assist and one steal.

The Mariners shot 48.1 percent from the floor, while the Badgers shot 17.2 percent on the afternoon. Maine Maritime held a 57-27 edge in rebounds.

University of Maine at Presque Isle's Last Game: UMaine-Presque Isle women's basketball fell to Thomas College 65-60 on Saturday afternoon in NAC action.

Rhylee Wright and Marissa Reagle led the Owls with 18 points apiece while Wright grabbed 12 rebounds and had two blocks. Reagle added seven rebounds, five assists and recorded eight steals. Hunter Mercier scored 13 points, six rebounds and four steals.

The Terriers were led by Molly Horton with 12 points and six assists, Kaylee Ravagli added 11 points, and Addie Brinkman contributed 10 points and nine rebounds.

The Mariners: After 20 games the Mariners average 62.2 points, 42.4 rebounds and 12.9 assists per game, while shooting 38.2 percent from the floor, 27.8 percent from behind the arc and 66.4 percent from the line.

Alayne Felix leads the Mariners with 14.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, Eryn Doiron (Wilton, Maine) leads the team with 1.4 steals per game and Megan McLean averages a team-best 2.5 assists per game.

The Owls: After 21 games the Owls average 53.2 points, 37.5 rebounds and 10.5 assists per game, while shooting 32.0 percent from the floor, 30.8 percent from three-point land and 63.1 percent from the line.
