Last Meeting: Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball handed Husson University their first loss in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play on February 12, with a 58-48 victory in the regular season finale for both teams inside of Smith Gymnasium.

The Eagles held a 16-10 lead after the first quarter, but Maine Maritime's offense erupted in the second quarter, pouring in 22 points on 71.4 percent shooting from the floor, while holding Husson to just seven points, to take a 32-23 lead into halftime. 

The Mariners picked up where they left off in the third quarter, outscoring the Eagles 15-11 to take a 47-34 lead into the final quarter. Husson went to the line 11 times in the final quarter, accounting for 10 of the team's 14 fourth quarter points, but the Mariners kept the visitors at bay and cruised to the double-digit victory. This is the Mariners' first win over the conference rival since 2013.

Melinda Ogden (Searsport, Maine) led the Mariners with 16 points, two rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block. Lauren Plissey (Hermon, Maine) tallied her first-career double-double with a career-high 13 rebounds and career-high 11 points, while also contributing four assists and three blocks.

Kenzie Worcester led the Eagles with 20 points, five rebounds and a steal, while teammate Megan Peach recorded a double-double of 14 points, 11 rebounds, five blocks, two assists and a steal.

The Mariners shot 42.2 percent from the floor, and 33.3 percent from behind the arc, while Husson shot just 26.4 percent on the night and 6.7 percent from three-point land. Maine Maritime also won the battle of the boards, 36-33.

Last Meeting in the Postseason: Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball fell to Husson University 76-58 in the 2018 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship game on February 24, 2018 hosted by Castleton University. 

The Eagles got on the board first but Melinda Ogden drained a three to give the Mariners 3-2 lead. The two teams exchanged the lead back-and-forth until the Eagles went on a six-point run to take a 10-6 advantage at 6:15. Ogden hit another three to cut the deficit to one, but the Eagles maintained a narrow lead and entered the second quarter with a 16-14 advantage.

Caitlin Kane hit a jumper then connected with Megan McLean (Eliot, Maine) on a three to tie the game at 21-21 at 3:31. Husson took a six-point lead with 1:23 remaining, but a three from Eryn Doiron (Wilton, Maine) cut the Eagles' lead to three entering halftime. 

The Mariners tied the game at 29-29 to open up the third quarter, and took a 34-33 lead following a tradition three-point play from Felix at 7:05. The two teams exchanged the lead back-and-forth until the Eagles went on a 11-3 run to close out the third and took a 49-45 lead into the fourth quarter. 

The Eagles went on a seven-point run late in the fourth and outscored the Mariners 27-13 in the fourth quarter, including going 6-for-6 from the line in the final minute, to secure the victory.

Alayne Felix led the Mariners with 13 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals, while Doiron ended the afternoon with 11 points, two rebounds and an assist and Ogden added nine points, three rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal.

Sami Ireland led the Eagles with 21 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three blocks, Kenzie Worcester added 15 points, six rebounds, five assists, a steal and a block, and Joan Overman contributed 11 points, three assists, two steals and an assist. Anna MacKenzie and Logan Huckins added 10 points each.

The Eagles shot 48.9 percent from the floor, while the Mariners shot 30.3 percent. The two teams were deadlocked with 37 rebounds each. 

Maine Maritime Academy's Last Game: Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball defeated the third seed, SUNY Canton 55-43 in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Semifinals on Friday evening inside of Newman Gymnasium.

The two teams battled closely in the first quarter until the Mariners scored six-unanswered points to take a 14-11 advantage into the second quarter. Maine Maritime held the Kangaroos to just nine points in the second quarter to take a 27-20 lead into halftime.

The Mariners picked up where they left off in the third quarter, holding the Kangaroos to eight points, taking a double-digit lead (42-28) lead into the final quarter. Canton outscored the Mariners 15-13 in the final 10 minutes, but the Mariners secured the 55-43 victory.

Melinda Ogden led the Mariners with a game-high 15 points, on all three-pointers, four rebounds, and an assist.

Alayne Felix and Megan McLean contributed 13 points each, Felix added three rebounds and two assists, while McLean chipped in with five assists, two rebounds and a steal. 

Lauren Plissey pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds, to go along with five assists, three blocks and a steal.

Antanasia Chambers led the Roos with 11 points, five steals, four rebounds and two assists.

The Mariners shot 38.5 percent from the floor, while Canton shot 28.6 percent. Maine Maritime held a 38-31 edge in rebounds. 

Husson University's Last Game: The top seeded Husson University women's basketball team defeated fourth seed Northern Vermont University-Lyndon, 77-39, in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship semifinal match-up on Friday evening inside Newman Gymnasium. 

The Hornets took an early 4-0 lead before Emma Alley put the Eagles on the board with a made jump shot and two free throws by Kenzie Worcester tied the game at 4-4 with 7:03 left in the first quarter. The Eagles' offense remained hot for the rest of quarter as Husson rode a 13-6 run to take a 17-10 advantage after the first quarter.

Husson extended their lead to 16 points before Alisha Celley ended the Eagle run with a layup with 7:09 remaining in the first half. The Eagles closed out the second quarter on a 11-7 run to take a 35-19 led into the intermission. 

Husson outscored NVU-Lyndon 42-20 in the second half. The Hornets kept it close, scoring nine points to the Eagles' 13 in the third period, but Husson ran away with 29 points in the final stanza, led by freshman Vanessa Duarte's 10-point-quarter.

Logan Huckins recorded her first career double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while adding two assists. Worcester finished the game with 15 points, seven boards, and five assists. Megan Peach added eight points and grabbed a game-high 15 points. Alley contributed 12 points in the victory.

Faith Poirier scored 10 points with one steal for the Hornets. Celley recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, and a game-high four blocks. Lea Crompton had six points, four rebounds, and five assists. 

The Mariners: After 25 games the Mariners average 61.0 points, 41.9 rebounds and 12.9 assists per game, while shooting 38.5 percent from the floor, 28.5 percent from behind the arc and 65.8 percent from the line.

Alayne Felix leads the Mariners with 14.1 points per game, Melinda Ogden averages 10.3 points per game, Lauren Plissey averages a team-best 6.1 rebounds per game and Megan McLean averages a team-best 2.6 assists per game. Eryn Doiron leads the Mariners with 1.3 steals per game.

The Eagles: After 26 games the Eagles average 64.2 points, 43.0 rebounds and 13.8 assists per game, while shooting 38.1 percent from the floor, 31.2 percent from three-point land and 65.8 percent from the line.

Kenzie Worcester leads the Eagles with 18.7 points, 3.4 assists and 2.0 steals per game and Megan Peach leads the team with 10.0 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game.
