CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball captured the 2018-19 NCAA Division III Statistical Championship for Field Goal Percentage Defense (30.0).
This season the Mariners finished 19-7 overall and returned to the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Final for the second-straight season. The Mariners started off the season with 14-consecutive road games, and faced three nationally ranked opponents (Amherst College, Bowdoin College and Saint Joseph's College of Maine).
The Mariners also ranked fourth in Scoring Defense, allowing opponents to score only 47.7 points per game.
Maine Maritime ended the regular season on a six-game win streak and held opponents to under 50 percent shooting from the floor all season, while also opponents to less than 30 percent shooting in 17 games. The Mariners held opponents to less than 50 points in 19 games and 40 points or less in eight games.
