CASTINE, Maine -- Maine Maritime Academy's Lauren Plissey (Hermon, Maine) has been named the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) Co-Player of the Week.
Plissey helped lead the Mariners to a 3-0 week against a trio of tough non-conference opponents. The sophomore totaled 49 points (16.3 ppg), while shooting 60 percent from the floor, 23 rebounds (7.7 reb/g), eight blocks (2.7 blk/g), six steals (2.0 stl/g) and four assists. In the Mariners' 67-62 win over Colby College, Plissey tallied 15 points, four rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block. In a come-from-behind victory over Gordon, Plissey tallied a double-double with a career-high 22 points and 11 rebounds, shooting 76.9 percent from the floor, while also adding five blocks. In the Mariners' final win of the week, Plissey tallied 12 points, eight rebounds, five steals, two blocks and two assists.
Earlier this week Plissey was named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week and also earned a spot on the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Honor Roll.
Freshman Maureen Stanton (Abington, Mass.) also earned MWBCA recognition, landing a spot on the Rookie Honor Roll.
