Season Opener: The Mariners will open up their season as they host the Maine Maritime Tip-Off Tournament on the campus of UMaine-Orono this Saturday, November 9 at 2:00 pm against Wheaton (Mass.) and will take on UMass-Boston on Sunday, November 10.
History against Wheaton (Mass.): Maine Maritime lost their only ever matchup against Wheaton back in 2002. The Mariners lost 65-37 to the Lyons on November 23, 2002.
History against UMass-Boston: The Mariners are 0-2 all-time against the Beacons. Their first loss came back in 2012 when the Mariners fell 69-60 in double overtime on December 30. Their next matchup came back in 2015 when the Mariners fell 55-37 on November 15.
Looking Ahead for the 2019-20 Season: The Mariners return three of their top five scorers from last season, including Second Team All-Conference selection Melinda Ogden (Searsport, Maine) who returns for her senior season after averaging 10.0 points per game, 3.8 rebounds per game, and 1.2 assists per game.
Forward Lauren Plissey (Hermon, Maine) returns for her sophomore season after averaging 4.8 points per game and leading the team with 6.2 rebounds per game.
Guard Morgan Boudreau (Benton, Maine) enters her junior season after averaging 4.7 points per game and 2.7 rebounds per game last season.
The Mariners have a competitive non-conference schedule including games against NESCAC opponent Colby and hosting Saint Joseph's College of Maine, who is coming off a 28-win season in their 2018 campaign.
Losing two of their top three scorers from last season including four-time First Team All-NAC Alayne Felix, the Mariners will look for a mix of youth and veteran leadership to help guide them back to the NAC Championship in 2019-20.
The Mariners will host Colby on Tuesday, November 19 for their home opener in Smith Gymnasium at 7:00 pm.
Conference Play: The Mariners will open up North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play on Saturday, December 7 when they host NVU-Johnson at 4:00 pm.
The Coach: Craig Dagan enters his 19th season as the Head Coach of the Mariners (19-7, 12-2 NAC). Dagan surpassed 300 career wins last season and boasts a 308-177 career record.
NAC Preseason Poll: Maine Maritime Academy was selected to finish second in the NAC, receiving two first place votes, behind defending NAC Champion, Husson University. The Eagles and the Mariners faced off for the NAC title last season.

Looking Back at 2018-19: Last season the Mariners posted a 19-7 overall record and went 12-2 against conference opponents. Maine Maritime entered the conference tournament for the 22nd-consecutive season. The second seed Mariners defeated SUNY-Canton 55-43 in the semifinals to advance to their second-straight championship game before falling to top-seeded Husson 58-51.
