LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – Maine Maritime Academy women's lacrosse defeated Lyndon State College 17-2, on Saturday morning in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action at Varsity Field.
The Mariners improve to 4-4 overall and 2-3 in the conference, while the Hornets fall to 3-5 on the season and 0-4 in the NAC. Maine Maritime returns to action on Tuesday, April 17 when they host Nichols College for Senior Day at 4:00 pm.
Madison Savary (Bath, Maine) led Maine Maritime with four goals, an assist, a ground ball and a caused turnover, Madison Barry (Stoneham, Mass.) added a hat-trick and a pair of assists to go with a ground ball and a caused turnover and Sydney Adams (Trumbull, Conn.) also net a hat-trick while scooping up five ground balls, four draw controls and causing two turnovers.
Christina Wilson (East Granby, Conn.) added two goals, an assist, four ground balls and two caused turnovers, Morgan Libby (Brunswick, Maine) added two goals, a game-high six ground balls, four draw controls and a caused turnover and Shelby O'Neil (Bar Harbor, Maine) added a pair of goals, three ground balls and a caused turnover.
Taylor Cavaliero and Elizabeth Start added goals for the Hornets, Mikayla Hodge added a team-high three ground balls and Michaela Columbia led all players with four caused turnovers.
In net, Maine Maritime's Sierra James (Campton, N.H.) stopped eight shots in the victory, while Lyndon's Paige Daley recorded six saves in the loss.
The Mariners won the battle of ground balls, 25-18 and draw controls 12-9, while also outshooting the Hornets 29-16.
