LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – Maine Maritime Academy women's lacrosse captured a 24-3 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory over NVU-Lyndon on Saturday morning.
How it Happened: The Mariners jumped out to an 8-0 lead and never looked back, taking a 16-2 lead into halftime and outscoring the Hornets 8-1 in the second half.
Inside the Numbers: Olivia Le Blanc (Conifer, Colo.) led the Mariners with a career-high six goals, one assist, one ground ball and two caused turnovers. Madison Savary (Bath, Maine) added five goals, two assists, one ground ball and one caused turnover and Sydney Adams (Trumbull, Conn.) contributed five goals, one assist, two draw controls and a caused turnover.
Madison Barry (Stoneham, Mass.) added three goals, three assists, five draw controls, and a ground ball, Christina Wilson (East Granby, Conn.) added two goals, an assist, a team-high six draw controls, two ground balls, and a caused turnover, and Kristen Gier (Cary, Ill.), Catherine Mahoney (Plymouth, Mass.) and Sierra James (Campton, N.H.) grabbed the other goals for the Mariners.
In net, Sydney Cole (Westbrook, Maine) tallied three saves and a ground ball to earn the win for the Mariners.
Michaela Columbia led the Hornets with two goals, three draw controls and two caused turnovers, Felisha Olmstead tallied the other goal, and led the Hornets with a six draw controls and in net Zoe Pierce-Olhson tallied five saves in the loss.
Up Next: The Mariners improve to 4-6 on the season and 2-2 in the NAC, while the Hornets fall to 0-10 overall and 0-4 in the conference. Maine Maritime will return to action on Tuesday evening, when they host Husson University for a NAC matchup and Senior Night at 4:00 pm.
