Wilson Earns Top Honor as Mariners Land Five on All-NAC Team

CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy's Christina Wilson (East Granby, Conn.) has been named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Women's Lacrosse Co-Defensive Player of the Year and to the NAC First Team, teammates Sydney Adams (Trumbull, Conn.) and Madison Barry (Stoneham, Mass.) joined Wilson on the First Team, while Olivia Le Blanc (Conifer, Colo.) earned a spot on the NAC Second Team and Catherine Mahoney (Plymouth, Mass.) claimed a spot on the NAC Sportsmanship Team for the second-straight season.

Wilson, a senior Marine Engineering Technology major, led the Mariners with 49 ground balls and 28 caused turnovers this season, while adding 28 draw controls, 10 goals, including four free position goals, and five assists. Wilson led the NAC with 14 caused turnovers in five conference games. The midfielder scooped up 17 ground balls, the second-most for any NAC player, and was named the NAC Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for the week on April 15. Wilson was also an offensive threat in conference games, scoring four goals, on nine shots, and dishing out three assists.  

Adams, a junior Marine Science / Small Vessel Operations major, led the Mariners with 33 goals, including nine free position goals, and 51 draw controls this season, while adding 31 ground balls, 13 caused turnovers and four assists. In conference play, Adams led the NAC with 27 draw controls and ranked third with 17 goals. She also scooped up 13 ground balls, caused eight turnovers and added an assist in NAC play. Adams recorded nine multi-goal games, including a career-high six goals in the Mariners' game at Husson on April 2.  

Barry, a junior Marine Transportation Operations major, led the Mariners with nine assists this season, while adding 23 goals, including seven free position goals, 19 draw controls, 16 ground balls and nine caused turnovers. In conference games, Barry tallied 11 goals, three assists, 14 draw controls, seven ground balls and four caused turnovers. Barry registered seven multi-goal games, including a career-high five goals in the Mariners' 16-11 win over Thomas College on April 6.

Le Blanc, a sophomore Vessel Operations Technology major, totaled 17 goals, three assists, 19 draw controls, 16 ground balls and nine caused turnover this season. In conference play she recorded 11 goals, three assists, nine ground balls and five caused turnovers. Le Blanc tallied three multi-goal games, including a career-high six goals against NVU-Lyndon on April 20. 

Mahoney, a sophomore Marine Science / Small Vessel Operations major, started in all 12 games for the Mariners this season. The defender tallied 16 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers, while also tallying her first career goal against NVU-Lyndon on April 20. In conference play, Mahoney tallied five caused turnovers and five ground balls. The NAC Women's Lacrosse Sportsmanship Team is reserved for those who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. The honorees are individuals who have positively affected the lacrosse culture and environment and whose behavior clearly demonstrates sportsmanship and integrity that go beyond the playing rules and etiquette.
