Women's Lacrosse Clinches Third Seed in NAC Tournament

CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's lacrosse has earned the third seed in the upcoming North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship Tournament. The Mariners will travel to No. 2 seed, UMaine-Farmington on Sunday, April 28 for a 12:00 pm semifinal matchup.

SUNY Canton clinched the top seed in the NAC Tournament and will host the fourth seed, Husson University on Sunday at 1:00 pm.

UMaine-Farmington (7-8 overall), Husson (7-6 overall), and Maine Maritime Academy (5-6 overall) finished the regular season with identical 3-2 conference records. Predetermined conference procedures were used to break the three-way tie.

After several steps, UMaine-Farmington broke the triad by virtue of a better win percentage against Division III programs with a .500 win percentage or higher. The tiebreaker began anew with the two remaining teams, and Maine Maritime edged Husson for the third seed with a head-to-head win in conference play.

The winners from semifinal games will compete for the 2019 NAC Championship at the highest remaining seed.

The NAC Champion will earn an automatic berth in the upcoming 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship.
