WESTFIELD, Mass. – Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer fell to Westfield State 6-1 in non-conference action at Alumni Field on Sunday afternoon.
Lydia Kinsman put the Owls up 1-0 in the 23rd minute when she headed in a corner kick. Maine Maritime's Makayla Lewis (Purcellville, Va.) added her fifth goal of the year, in as many games, to tie the game at 1-1 in the 33rd minute, on an assist from Susana DeFrank (Temecula, Calif.).
The Owls scored two goals to close out the first half to take a 3-1 lead at halftime, and added three goals in the second half to pick up the 6-1 victory.
Maine Maritime's Emily Conway (Charleston, S.C.) tallied 11 saves in net in the loss, while Natalia Falcone recorded one save in almost 56 minutes of action in net for the Owls in the victory.
The Mariners fall to 1-4 overall, while Westfield State improves to 1-1-2 overall. Maine Maritime returns to action on Saturday, September 16 when they host North Atlantic Conference rival Colby-Sawyer College at 4:00 pm as part of Homecoming 2017.
