CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer defeated Thomas College 5-1 on Tuesday night in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Ritchie Field.
The Mariners doubled their lead in the 37th minute when Emily Wyman (Brockton, Mass.) faked out her defender and found the back of the net for her second goal of the year.
The Terriers capitalized on a Maine Maritime turnover in front of the net, and broke the shutout just seconds later on a goal from Nikki Bradstreet.
DeFrank added a goal of her own in the 42nd minute, her first of the season, to send the Mariners into halftime with a 3-1 lead.
Doiron added her second goal of the game in the 67th minute to cap off the scoring for the Mariners and secure the 5-1 win.
Emily Conway (Charleston, S.C.) earned the victory in net for the Mariners, while Kayla Gordon tallied seven saves in the loss for the Terriers.
The Mariners improve to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in the NAC, while the Terriers fall to 0-6 on the season and 0-2 in conference play. Maine Maritime returns to action this Saturday when they travel to New England College for an 11:00 am matchup.
