CASTINE, Maine – Eryn Doiron (Wilton, Maine) scored two goals and dished out two assists to lead Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer to a commanding 6-1 victory over Johnson State College on Saturday in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Ritchie Field
Kelsea Anair (Dresden, Maine) scored in the second minute to put the Mariners up 1-0 and the dished out an assist on Doiron's first goal of the game in the 21st minute.
Emily Wyman (Brockton, Mass.) scored on an assist from Doiron in the 23rd minute to make it 3-0 in favor of Maine Maritime, and just minutes later Susana DeFrank (Temecula, Calif.) joined the scoring to make it 4-0.
Doiron picked up her second goal of the game in the 30th minute to stretch the Mariners' lead to 5-0. Johnson State's Kylie Aither broke the shutout in the 39th minute to send the Mariners into halftime with a four-goal lead (5-1).
In the win, the Mariners held a substantial advantage in shots (27-4) and corner kicks (10-1).
Emily Conway (Charleston, S.C.) stopped two shots in the victory for Maine Maritime, while Kaila Lemmer tallied 13 saves in the loss for the Badgers in nearly 75 minutes of play.
Maine Maritime improves to 3-8 overall and 2-2 in NAC play, while the Badgers drop to 4-5 on the season and 0-3 in conference play. The Mariners return to action tomorrow at 2:30 pm when they host Lyndon State College for another NAC matchup.
