FARMINGTON, Maine – Makayla Lewis (Purcellville, Va.) scored in the 25th minute to lead Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer to a 1-0 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory over UMaine-Farmington on Tuesday afternoon at Leib Field.
Lewis notched her second game-winner and ninth goal of the season, while leading the team with four shots on goal. The Mariners held the Beavers scoreless for their second-straight shutout and fourth of the season.
The Mariners recorded a 12-10 advantage in shots and a 7-5 edge in corner kicks.
Maine Maritime's Emily Conway (Charleston, S.C.) was impressive in net, stopping all four shots she faced for her fourth shutout of the season. UMaine-Farmington's Kiana Thompson tallied seven saves in the setback.
With the win, the Mariners improve to 6-9 overall and 4-3 in NAC play, while the Beavers fall to 7-8 on the season and 4-3 in the conference. Maine Maritime returns to action this weekend as they travel to Vermont to take on Castleton on Saturday at 12:00 pm and Green Mountain on Sunday at 12:00 pm to finish up regular season play.
