CASTINE, Maine – Eryn Doiron (Wilton, Maine) net her second hat trick of the season to lead Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer to a 6-0 victory over UMaine-Machias on Wednesday evening in non-conference action at Ritchie Field.
With the victory and their third-consecutive shutout, the Mariners improve to 5-1 overall, while the Clippers fall to 5-3 on the season. Maine Maritime returns to action this Saturday, September 22 at SUNY-Canton at 12:00 pm.
MacKenzie Carter (Ashland, Maine) put the Mariners on the board in 13th minute with her third goal of the season and Doiron added her first goal of the game on an assist from Lauren Wood (Vassalboro, Maine) in the 15th minute.
Carter tallied her second goal of the game in the 26th minute and less than four minutes later Doiron added her second goal of the evening at 29:43. Allison Boulier (Bangor, Maine) net her first goal of the season in the 35th minute and Doiron secured her hat trick in the 41st minute to cap off the scoring.
Maine Maritime's Emily Conway (Charleston, S.C.) earned the victory in net for nearly 35 shutout minutes in the first half, while Alice Van Kovn (Lancaster, Calif.) tallied three saves in just over 55 minutes in goal. Elana Lancia earned the loss for Machias, making five saves but allowing all six goals.
The Mariners held an 18-4 in shots, and an 8-3 edge in corner kicks.
