CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer picked up their eighth shutout of the season with a 2-0 victory over UMaine-Fort Kent on Monday evening in non-conference action on Ritchie Field.
With the victory the Mariners improve to 9-2 on the season while the Bengals drop to 5-1-1 overall. Maine Maritime returns to action on Saturday, October 13 when they host UMaine-Presque Isle for a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matchup at 1:00 pm.
Eryn Doiron (Wilton, Maine) tallied her 13th goal of the season in the 31st minute on a penalty kick, to give the Mariners a 1-0 lead into halftime.
The Mariners added an insurance goal in the 64th minute when MacKenzie Carter (Ashland, Maine) added her fifth goal of the season.
Emily Conway (Charleston, S.C.) earned the victory in net for Maine Maritime logging over 85 minutes of play, turning away all five shots she faced. Fort Kent's Alyse Kline recorded six saves in the loss.
The Mariners held a 20-10 advantage in shots and a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.
