CASTINE, Maine – Margot Simeon (Findlay, Ohio) scored two goals and dished out three assists to lead Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer to a 10-0 victory over UMaine-Presque Isle on Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action at Ritchie Field.
With the victory the Mariners improve to 10-2 overall, tying the previous program record for wins in a single-season, and 5-0 in NAC play. The Owls fall to 1-10 on the season and 0-5 in the conference. Maine Maritime returns to action on Tuesday, October 16 at Southern Maine for a non-conference matchup at 3:30 pm.
Simeon dished out a pair of assists to MacKenzie Carter (Ashland, Maine) for the Mariners' first two goals and added her first goal of the game in the 15th minute. Eryn Doiron (Wilton, Maine) net her 14th goal of the season in the 16th minute to make it 4-0.
Makayla Lewis (Purcellville, Va.) tallied her ninth goal of the season, in the 22nd minute on an assist from Doiron, and Doiron added her 15th goal of the season on an assist from Allison Boulier (Bangor, Maine). Simeon capped off the scoring in the first half, sending the Mariners into halftime with a 7-0 advantage.
Kaitlyn Shute (Searsport, Maine), Payje Leclerc (Old Orchard Beach, Maine), and Adeline Davis (Dresden, Maine) added goals in the second half to give the Mariners a 10-0 victory and ninth shutout of the season, tying the previous program record for most shutouts in a season.
Emily Conway (Charleston, S.C.) earned the victory in net for the Mariners, logging 62 shutout minutes, while Alexis Levesque stopped seven shots in net for the Owls in the loss.
The Mariners outshot the Owls 28-0 and took 11 corner kicks while UMaine-Presque Isle took none.
