CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer fell to Bates College, 1-0 on Tuesday evening in non-conference action at Ritchie Field.
With the loss the Mariners fall to 0-2 overall, while Bates improves to 1-0.
Adelaide Armah scored the eventual game-winning goal for Bates in the 20th minute, on a feed from So Kim.
Eryn Doiron (Wilton, Maine) led the Mariners' offense, landing both of her shots on net.
Maine Maritime's Emily Conway (Charleston, S.C.) made six saves in nearly 75 minutes in net, while teammate Bess MacArthur (Castine, Maine) tallied one stop in the remaining time. Katherine Nuckols stopped all three shots she faced to earn the victory in net for Bates.
Bates outshot the Mariners 19-3, and took seven corner kicks to the Mariners' one.
The Mariners return to action this Friday, September 6 when they host Massachusetts Maritime at 5:00 pm in the first game of the 2019 Maritime Cup.
