FARMINGTON, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer picked up 2-1 win over North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opponent the University of Maine at Farmington, on Saturday in Farmington.
The Mariners did not waste any time getting on the scoreboard early as Kelsea Anair (Richmond, Maine) found Laura Blue (Brisbane, Australia) in the opening minute of the game to take a 1-0 lead. Both teams remained scoreless for the remainder of the first half as the Mariners outshot the Beavers 7-2.
Farmington's Libby Ouellette broke the scoring drought as she put the Beavers on the board when she scored off a feed from McKenna Brodeur to make it 1-1 in the 55th minute. Anair scored the eventual game winner four minutes later as she finished a feed from Lilah Chaar (Stockton Springs, Maine) and Suzanne Wooldridge (Corona Calif.)
Emily Conway (Charleston, S.C.) made four saves on five shots on goal in the win for the Mariners, while Farmington's Callie Hammer made eight saves on 10 shots on goal in the loss. The Mariners improve to 6-2 overall and 3-0 in the NAC, Farmington drops to 1-7-1 overall and 0-2-1 in the NAC.
The Mariners return to action next Saturday, October 5th, when they host NAC opponent SUNY Canton, on Ritchie Field at 2:30 pm.
