BRUNKSWICK, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer fell in non-conference action to Bowdoin College 6-0 on Saturday afternoon on Pickard Field.
With the loss the Mariners fall to 9-3-0 overall, while the Polar Bears improve to 5-6-1 overall on the season with the win.
After a scoreless first 27 minutes Bowdoin's Morgen Gallagher scored the lone first half goal in the 28th minute as she beat Emily Conway (Charleston, S.C.) to give the Polar Bears a 1-0 lead. The Polar Bears outshot the Mariners 13-1 in the first half.
Bowdoin opened up their second half scoring 55th minute when Talia Missan scored to extend the lead to 2-0. Annie Pyne pushed the lead to 3-0 in the 65th minute when she scored her first of the game. Pyne added to the Polar Bears lead when she scored her second of the game in the 77th minute to make the lead 4-0. Talia Missan made it 5-0 only minutes later in the 79th minute when she finished off a feed from Ali Dougal. Bowdoin made it 6-0 in the 83rd minute when Isa Quintana found Ali Dougal.
Conway made 11 saves in net in the loss for the Mariners, while Penny Rocchio made two saves in the win for Bowdoin.
The Mariners return to action on Tuesday, October 22, when they host Southern Maine at 6:30 PM on Ritchie Field.
