CASTINE, Maine – Senior Eryn Doiron (Wilton, Maine) scored in the 51st minute, on a cross from freshman teammate Laura Blue (Brisbane, Australia) to lift Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer to a 1-0 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Semifinal victory on Friday night at Ritchie Field.
The Mariners improve to 12-4 on the season, setting a new program record for wins in a single-season and shutouts, while the Broncos conclude their season at 9-7-2 overall. Maine Maritime will face the winner of the second semifinal matchup between No. 3 UMaine-Farmington and No. 2 Husson, in the NAC Championship game on Sunday at 11:30 am.
The Mariners maintained pressure for most of the first half, outshooting the Broncos 10-3 in the first 45 minutes and came out strong in the second half to take the lead following Doiron's 21st goal of the season.
Delhi had the equalizer called off due to a foul with under 10 minutes to play in the match and the Mariners hung on for the shutout, their 10th of the season, to advance to the NAC Final for just the second time in program history.
Maine Maritime's Emily Conway (Charleston, S.C.) was impressive in net, stopping all six shots she faced for the win, while Rachael Scoones collected seven stops in net for Delhi, in the loss.
