COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Maine Maritime Academy women's swimming team has been named to the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA) Scholar All-America team for the Spring 2019 semester.
A record 480 institutions were named to the list, highlighted by St. Andrews' women's GPA of 3.35. The CSCAA recognizes those teams achieving a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the semester. The Maine Maritime women's swimming team is comprised of 11 student-athletes who combined to average an overall GPA of 3.02.
CSCAA Executive Director Greg Earhart noted: "Maine Maritime Academy Head Coach Hayley Masi, in just one short year, has built a program that is fulfilling the Academy's goals when they started the swimming program."
CSU-Pueblo, Masters' University, Merrimack University and Thomas University joined the Mariners as first-time recipients of the honor. At 3.45, the median GPA among women's teams was the highest on record.
Founded in 1922, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) – the first organization of college coaches in America – is a professional organization of college swimming and diving coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming & diving at the collegiate level.
