CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy volleyball cruised to a 3-0 (25-14, 25-10, 25-19) victory over Lyndon on Friday night in the North Atlantic Conference Semifinals.
Gillian O'Neal (Burbank, Calif.) and Tess Clark (Spring, Texas) each tallied five kills in the first set to lead the Mariners to a 25-14 win. Sydney Adams (Trumbull, Conn.) combined for eight aces in the first two sets and tallied two in the final stretch of the second set to lead the Mariners to a 25-10 win set two. Clark tallied five kills in the third set to help lead the Mariners to a 25-19 set win and 3-0 match victory.
Clark led the Mariners with a double-double, her ninth of the season, of 13 kills and 10 digs while teammate O'Neal tallied a double-double of her own, her 16th of the season, with 12 digs and 11 kills. Adams tied her career and season-high of eight aces in the match, while also chipping in with a match-high 35 assists and seven digs, Alexa Cacacie (Manahawkin, N.J.) added seven kills, five blocks, and an assist, and Maria Perez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) led all players with 13 digs.
Faith Richard and Abbey Greene led the Hornets with two kills each, while Greene also added four digs, two aces and a block, Lauren McDonough a tallied a team-high 10 digs and Gwyneth Stahl added a team-best six assists.
The Mariners (21-8) advance to the NAC Championship tomorrow inside of Smith Gym at 12:00 pm, while the Hornets conclude their season at 11-10 overall.
