CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy volleyball swept a pair of North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matches against Green Mountain College and Castleton on Saturday afternoon inside of Smith Gymnasium.
Maine Maritime 3 – Green Mountain College 0 (25-3, 25-16, 25-10)
Maggie MacMahon (Boise, Idaho) led the Mariners with seven kills, one dig and a block, while teammate Sydney Adams (Trumbull, Conn.) led all players with 20 assists, and also added six kills, three aces, two digs and a block.
Rachel Bunker (Ellsworth, Maine) tallied a career-high 11 aces, tying the Maine Maritime Academy single-match (3 sets) record.
Maria Perez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) and Jessica D'Auria (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) tallied four digs each for the Mariners, while Maryellyn Musselman (West Friendship, Md.) added five kills and three blocks.
Estela Felix Almedia led Green Mountain with six digs, four kills and two aces.
Maine Maritime 3 – Castleton 0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-16)
Alexa Cacacie (Manahawkin, N.J.) led the Mariners with 10 kills and also added two digs, one ace and a block. Sydney Adams led all players with 28 assists, while also adding five digs, five aces and three kills and Jessica D'Auria led the team with eight digs, while also contributing six kills, and an ace.
Shannon Manchester led the Spartans with four kills and three blocks, while Greta Hoehn, Lauren Wilson and Meghan Zawatsky led the team with five digs each and Maria Jackson led Castleton with seven assists.
The Mariners improve to 15-9 overall and 4-0 in the conference. Green Mountain drops to 3-13 overall and 0-5 in the conference and Castleton falls to 5-13 overall and 1-4 in the NAC. Maine Maritime returns to action on Tuesday night, when they host Husson University for a NAC matchup at 7:00 pm.
