CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy volleyball cruised to a 3-0 victory over Husson University on Tuesday night in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action inside of Smith Gymnasium.
The Mariners took the match in three sets, with commanding 25-12 and 25-13 victories in the first two sets and jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the third set en route to the 25-14 victory.
Alexa Cacacie (Manahawkin, N.J.) led the Mariners with nine kills and a block, Hannah Butland (Cumberland, Maine) tallied a team-leading nine digs, three kills, an assist and a block, and Sydney Adams (Trumbull, Conn.) led all players with 19 assists, and also added six digs, four aces, three kills and one block.
Jessica D'Auria (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) and Maria Perez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) each chipped in with seven digs, D'Auria added five kills and four aces, while Perez contributed one kill and two assists. Maggie MacMahon (Boise, Idaho) added six kills, two digs and an assist.
Mary Grace Power led the Eagles with three kills, and also added two digs and an ace, Delaney Chisholm led the Eagles with nine digs and Hannah Hembrow added seven digs and a team-leading six assists.
The Mariners improve to 16-9 overall and a perfect 5-0 in the NAC, while the Eagles drop to 14-10 on the season and 4-1 in conference play. Maine Maritime returns to action on Saturday, when they travel to Husson to take on New England College and Colby-Sawyer beginning at 12:00 pm.
