CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy volleyball fell in a pair of matches to the University of Maine at Fort Kent 3-0 and 3-1, on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action.
UMaine-Fort Kent 3 – Maine Maritime Academy 0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-23)
Alexa Cacacie (Mahawkin, N.J.) led all players with 12 kills, and also added four blocks, three digs and an ace. Maria Perez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) led all players with 24 digs, while Sydney Adams (Trumbull, Conn.) contributed a match-high 27 assists and also added five digs, four aces, three kills and three blocks, and Hannah Butland (Cumberland, Maine) added 11 digs, one ace and a block.
Adriana Gutierrez led the Bengals with nine kills, and also added seven digs, two aces, an assist and a block. Kamalani Kahele led UMFK with 15 digs and Haley West contributed a team-leading 23 assists.
UMaine-Fort Kent 3 – Maine Maritime Academy 1 (25-17, 25-19. 16-25, 25-14)
Maggie MacMahon (Boise, Idaho) led the Mariners with 10 kills, six digs and four aces, while Melissa Spaulding (Fairbanks, Alaska) led the team with 19 digs and also contributed four kills, three assists and an ace. Hannah Butland led the team with 19 assists, and also tallied 14 digs, three kills, an ace and a block. Maria Perez had 13 digs, three aces, two assists and a kill.
Payton Spradling led the Bengals with a double-double of 11 kills and 11 digs and also added two aces. Kamalani Kahele led Fort Kent with 19 digs and Tate Dolley had a match-high 21 assists.
The Mariners fall to 18-11 and will wrap up regular season play on Tuesday night when the host Colby College at 7:00 pm. The Bengals improve to 24-5 overall.
