Cacacie and D'Auria Earn ECAC Weekly Honors

CASTINE, Maine -- Maine Maritime Academy's Alexa Cacacie (Manahawkin, N.J.) has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III North Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week while teammate Jessica D'Auria (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) has been named the ECAC Rookie of the Week for the second time this season.

Offensive Player of the Week – Alexa Cacacie – SO, MH, Maine Maritime Academy

Cacacie appeared in four matches for the Mariners this week, leading the team to a 3-1 record, including a perfect 3-0 record against NAC opponents to give the Mariners the top seed in the upcoming NAC Championship Tournament. The sophomore middle hitter totaled 34 kills (2.62 k/s), 12 aces (0.92 sa/s), nine blocks (0.69 b/s) and six digs (0.92 d/s), while hitting .341 on the week. In the Mariners' 3-0 win over Husson, Cacacie had nine kills and one block. Against New England College, she had nine aces, eight kills, two digs and a block. In the Mariners' 3-1 win over Colby-Sawyer, she had five kills, three blocks, two aces, and one dig. Against tough non-conference opponent UMaine-Fort Kent, Cacacie led the team with 12 kills, while adding four blocks, three digs and an ace.

Rookie of the Week - Jessica D'Auria – FR, OH, Maine Maritime Academy

D'Auria helped lead Maine Maritime to a 3-2 week, including a perfect 3-0 record against NAC opponents en route to clinching the top seed in the NAC Championship Tournament. The freshman totaled 43 kills (2.53 k/s), 42 digs (2.47 d/s), 12 aces (0.71 sa/s), and two assists over the five matches. In the Mariners' 3-0 win over Husson, she tallied seven digs, five kills and four aces. Against New England College she just missed a double-double with nine kills, nine digs, two aces and an assist. In a 3-1 win over Colby-Sawyer she tallied a double-double with 14 digs, 13 kills, three aces and an assist. To end the week in a double-header with UMaine-Fort Kent, D'Auria had 12 digs, 16 kills, and three aces.
