Earlier today, the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Committee announced the field of 64 teams for the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship.
The Maine Maritime Academy volleyball team (20-12) will make their second-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament when the Mariners travel to Johnson & Wales (Providence, R.I.) to take part in an eight-team regional. The Mariners will take on nationally-ranked No. 21 MIT (28-2) on Friday, November 10, at 3:00 p.m. in the first round.
Maine Maritime won the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship Title on Saturday to advance into the national tournament, while MIT qualified for the NCAA Tournament after capturing its second New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship.
The meeting will be the second between both squads and first since they squared off in the first round of the 2007 NCAA Tournament.
In addition to the host Wildcats, the rest of the New England Regional bracket features Elms College, Tufts University, UMass Boston, Wellesley College, and Wesleyan University.
