CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy volleyball cruised to a 3-0 (25-10, 25-13, 25-23) victory over UMaine-Machias on Tuesday night in non-conference action inside of Smith Gymnasium.
The Mariners improve to 11-5 overall, while the Clippers drop to 4-15 on the season. Maine Maritime returns to action on Saturday, October 6 when they host UMaine-Fort Kent for a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 10:00 am.
Rachel Melampy (Duxbury, Mass.) led Maine Maritime with eight kills, seven digs and two aces, while Sydney Adams (Trumbull, Conn.) added a team-high 14 assists to go along with five kills, five digs and two aces. Hannah Butland (Cumberland, Maine) chipped in with nine assists, five digs, and an ace and Briana Mays (Bradenton, Fla.) contributed a match-high eight aces, while also recording three digs, a block and a kill.
Shawna Monk led the Clippers with three digs, three blocks and two kills, while Caitlyn Reynolds led Machias with five digs, and Reese Thompson led the team with three assists and three aces.
