LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – Maine Maritime Academy volleyball picked up a pair of 3-0 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victories on Saturday against NVU-Lyndon and NVU-Johnson.
The Mariners improve to 15-6 overall and 2-0 in NAC play, while the Hornets fall to 0-16 on the season and 0-2 in the NAC and the Badgers fall to 9-8 and 0-2 in conference play. Maine Maritime returns to action on Saturday, October 20 when they host SUNY Canton and Husson University in NAC playdate.
Maine Maritime Academy 3 – NVU-Lyndon 0 (25-4, 25-9, 25-5)
The Mariners cruised to the three-set victory led by Alexa Cacacie (Manahawkin, N.J.) who tallied 12 aces, breaking the program record for aces in a three-set match. Cacacie also contributed four kills and a dig. Rachel Melampy (Duxbury, Mass.) led the team with seven kills, and also chipped in with two digs and an assist, Sydney Adams (Trumbull, Conn.) led all players with 20 assists and also contributed a team-high five digs and six aces.
Alexis Britch and Samantha Theriault led the Hornets with two digs each.
Maine Maritime Academy 3 – NVU-Johnson 0 (25-10, 25-17, 25-17)
Melampy led the Mariners with 18 kills, seven digs, three assists and two aces, Maria Perez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) led all players with 13 digs and also had a three aces, two assists and a kill and Adams led all players once again with 29 assists, and added seven kills, three aces and a dig.
Nikola Knapova led the Badgers with 11 kills and seven digs and Julie Van Etten led the team with 15 assists and three digs.
