Earlier today, the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Committee announced the field of 64 teams for the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship.
The Maine Maritime Academy volleyball team (22-6) will make their third-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament when the Mariners travel to Johnson & Wales (Providence, R.I.) to take part in an eight-team regional. The Mariners will take on Springfield College (23-7) on Friday, November 9 at 3:00 p.m. in the first round.
Maine Maritime won the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship Title on Saturday to advance into the national tournament, while Springfield fell to Babson College in the NEWMAC Championship match, but qualified for the NCAA Tournament after receiving a pool C berth.
The meeting will be the second between both squads and first since they squared off in the first round of the 2008 NCAA Tournament.
In addition to the host Wildcats, the rest of the New England Regional bracket features: Eastern Connecticut State, Franklin & Marshall, SUNY New Platz, Wesleyan and Kean.
