MEDFORD, Mass. – Maine Maritime Academy volleyball fell to No. 24 Tufts University 3-0 and Bowdoin College 3-1 on Saturday in non-conference action at Cousens Gym.
The Mariners fall to 9-3 overall and return to action on Wednesday, October 2 when they host UMaine-Machias at 7:00 pm.
Tufts University 3 – Maine Maritime (25-15, 25-8, 25-19)
Alexa Cacacie (Manahawkin, N.J.) led the Mariners with six kills, three digs, an ace and a block, while both Rachel Melampy (Marshfield, Mass.) and Jessica D'Auria (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) contributed five kills, D'Auria also added five digs, and four aces. Maria Perez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) tallied a match-high 15 digs to go along with an assist and Sydney Adams (Trumbull, Conn.) led the match with 20 assists, and added a dig and a block.
Brigid Bell led the Jumbos with 10 digs, six kills, and a block, Ariel Zedric added 14 assists and five digs, and Rachel Furash chipped in with 10 assists to go with two digs, two aces and a kill.
Bowdoin College 3 – Maine Maritime 1 (25-16, 24-26, 25-11, 25-15)
Melampy led the Mariners with 13 kills and added three digs, two assists, two aces and a block, D'Auria added 10 kills, six digs, and two aces and Perez contributed a team-high 14 digs, to go along with two assists and two aces. Adams tallied a double-double with a match-high 33 assists and 13 digs, to go with two kills, an ace and a block.
Caroline Flaharty led the Polar Bears (6-6) with 16 kills, seven digs, and an assist, teammate Adrienne Miller added 10 kills, two digs, an ace and a block, and Emily King led all players with 20 digs, and added two assists and an ace. Allyson Hawkins recorded 10 digs for Bowdoin, while also contributing four kills, an ace, an assist and a block, Ella Haugen led the team with 27 assists, and added two aces, a kill and a dig and Kate Kiser added 13 assists, three digs and two aces.
