CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy volleyball cruised to a 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-10) victory over SUNY Delhi on Saturday morning in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Semifinal match inside of Smith Gymnasium.
With the win the Mariners improve to 23-3 overall, and advance to their 13th-straight NAC Final, while the Broncos conclude their season at 12-14 overall. Maine Maritime will face the winner of the second semifinal match, between SUNY Canton and NVU-Johnson, in the NAC Final tomorrow, at noon.
NAC Second Team selection Jessica D'Auria (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) led the top-seeded Mariners with 12 kills, seven digs and four aces, while NAC Player of the Year Rachel Melampy (Marshfield, Mass.) added 12 kills of her own and chipped in with three digs and two aces, and First Team All-NAC selection Alexa Cacacie (Manahawkin, N.J.) added 10 kills, three digs, three aces and two blocks. Avery O'Neal (Burbank, Calif.) led all players with 14 digs, and also added three kills, three assists and three aces, while NAC Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year and First Team setter Sydney Adams (Trumbull, Conn.) led all players with 39 assists, and contributed six digs and five kills.
Lexi Taylor led the fourth-seeded Broncos with six digs, five kills, and an assist, while teammate Shelby Nolan also contributed six digs, while tallying an assist and Erica Prindle led Delhi with 12 assists, and also registered four digs.
