Volleyball Announces 2019 Schedule

CASTINE, Maine – The 2019 Maine Maritime Academy volleyball schedule has been released.

The Mariners open up their 2019 campaign on Friday, August 30 and Saturday, August 31 at the University of New England, with a match against Southern Maine on Friday night and a doubleheader against Saint Joseph's College and the Nor'easters on Saturday.

Maine Maritime will face the Huskies again on Saturday, September 7, along with WPI, before heading to Merchant Marine for the 10th Annual Maritime Classic to take on SUNY Maritime, USMMA and Massachusetts Maritime on Saturday, September 14 and Sunday, September 15. 

The Mariners will host Husson University on Wednesday, September 18 for their home opener and will host their Second Annual Alumnae Match on Saturday, September 21 as part of Homecoming 2019, before heading to Tufts University to take on the Jumbos and Bowdoin College on Saturday, September 28.

Maine Maritime returns to Smith Gymnasium for a match against UMaine-Machias on October 2 and a doubleheader against UMaine-Fort Kent on October 4, before heading to Colby on October 5.

The Mariners host St. Thomas University on October 12, and head to SUNY Delhi for their North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opener on October 19, to face the Broncos and SUNY-Canton in a rematch of last year's NAC Championship final. Maine Maritime will host Husson for a NAC matchup on Wednesday, October 23 before hosting NVU-Lyndon and NVU-Johnson on Saturday, October 26 for a NAC playdate and Colby College on Tuesday, October 29. 

The Mariners will wrap up the regular season at Husson University with matches against UMaine-Fort Kent and UMaine-Presque Isle on November 2.

Last season the Mariners went 22-7 overall and a perfect 5-0 in the conference. The Mariners clinched their third-straight NAC Championship, the program's seventh overall, and earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament for the third-consecutive year. The Mariners fell to Springfield in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

I look forward to our season being a celebration of the program we are and a test to this particular team's abilities."
