BRUNSWICK, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy finished in 10th place in a field of as many at the Bowdoin Invitational on Saturday. The field featured two nationally ranked teams in MIT and the hosts.
Molly Carol of the University of Southern Maine won the women's race in a time of 22:38.82. MIT was able to take first with a team score of 67, led by a seventh-place finish from Stephanie Marzen (23.37.00). Bowdoin was right behind with a team total of 69, followed by Wellesley (87), Southern Maine (93), Westfield State (108), Babson (127), Husson (189), Colby-Sawyer (236), Endicott (237) and Maine Maritime (326).
The Mariners ' Jane Allred (Morrill, Maine) was the top finisher for MMA. She placed 103rd in the field of 121 with a 30:31.00. Emily Fanning (New Boston, N.H.) crossed 105th in 30:39, while Bridget Duffy (Hallowell, Maine) finished 116th at 33:53. Kara Wood (Otisfield, Maine) and Ashley Burnett (Danville, N.H.) rounded out the Mariners' entries with respective times of 34:18 and 43:36.
The Mariners return to action in two weeks at the State of Maine Invitational at Pineland Farms.
