  • Cross Country Earns Mariner Cup

    Maine Maritime Academy’s Cross Country teams earned the Mariner Cup, presented to the Mariners that best exemplify the spirit of service and camaraderie in the campus and Castine communities. The program earning the award is selected by the Mariners’ Athletic Director based on participation in community service, support of athletic/student-life programs, and academic performance. Director of Athletics, Steve Peed, presented the cup to Head Coach, Ryan King, Wednesday afternoon.

    Maine Maritime finished 51st at the New England Division III Women's Cross Country Regional Saturday at Stanley Park.
  • Maine Maritime Finishes Ninth in NAC

    Maine Maritime finished in ninth place among the 10 teams running for the North Atlantic Conference Championship at New England College Saturday morning. Husson University captured the league title. Colby-Sawyer finished in second place, ten points shy of the leaders, while the University of Maine at Farmington grabbed the third spot.
  • UMPI Captures Mariner Invitational

    The University of Maine at Presque Isle produced the first five runners across the finish line at the Mainer Invitational at Bucksport High School. The Owls’ Kayla Lagasse (Presque Isle, Maine ) won the three-mile event with a time of 19:51. Maine Maritime finished in second place, while last year’s team champions, Thomas College, finished in third.
  • Mariners 10th at State Championships

    Maine Maritime’s women finished 10th in the field of 10 at the Maine Collegiate Cross Country Championships hosted by Southern Maine on Saturday. The hosting Huskies’ produced the race champion in Molly Carl, who ran the five-kilometer course in 18:16. Carl had a three second edge on Bates’ Gabrielle Naranja, who led the Bobcats to the meet championship.

    Jessica Theberge finished in 38th place among the 53 runners competing at Saturday’s Colby Invitational. The Mariners’ freshman paced Maine Maritime to a fourth place finish among the five competing teams.
  • Mariners Fourth at Unity; Wells Paces Maine Maritime

    Maine Maritime Academy’s women’s cross country team finished in fourth place at Saturday’s Unity College Invitational. Six schools fielded 26 runners in the event. The Mariners’ Gabrielle Wells was the Mariners’ front-runner, finishing 13th overall.
  • Mariners Fifth at Mount Blue

    Maine Maritime’s Emily Fanning (New Boston, N.H.) ran a 26:48 for 26th place in the field of 44 runners competing at Maine-Farmington’s Mount Blue Invitational on Saturday. The Mariners finished in fifth place among the five North Atlantic Conference teams running in the event, won by Husson University.

  • Mariners Women Ninth at Mayflower Kickoff

    Maine Maritime Academy’s women’s cross country team opened the 2012 campaign with a ninth place finish in a field of 11 teams at New England College’s Mayflower Kickoff. Emily Fanning ran a 25:42 for 40th place in the field of 96 runners to pace the Mariners. Babson’s Marina Capalbo took first in 20:34. Babson finished third overall behind Husson and Green Mountain.
  • Cross Country Names Team Captains; King Reflects on First Full Season

    Maine Maritime Academy Cross Country coach, Ryan King, announced the captains for the 2012-2013 season. Samantha DePlanche will skipper the women’s team, while Noel Deserres-Gauthier will captain the men’s team.
