Cross country's Gabrielle Wells played an important role in last week's rescue of South Carolina Author/Sailor Mike Hurley. Wells answered the distress call and deployed students to the situation, while serving as the deck officer on watch aboard the TSSOM.
10 members of Maine Maritime Academy’s fall sports teams were named to the North Atlantic Conference Fall All-Academic Team. The NAC All-Academic Team recognizes student-athletes on varsity sports teams who have earned a grade-point average (GPA) of 3.50 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Student-athletes must also have reached junior academic standing and competed in a minimum of two years of varsity competition at their institution.
Maine Maritime Academy student-athletes Nick Darling (MXC), Jessica Faltings (WXC), Ryan Hanley (MXC), and Tim Grant (MLAX) represented the Mariners at the Spartan Race held at Fenway Park on November 15th.
Women’s cross country finished fifth overall at the Bowdoin Invitational of Saturday, September 13th. Jessica Faltings (Northport, N.Y.) placed 51st overall out of 85 runners to pace the Mariners on the 5k course.
Jessica Faltings placed eighth and Caroline Martin 11th, but Maine Maritime finished third among the three scoring teams at the Husson Harrier Classic. Husson finished in first place, sweeping the top four spots. Maine-Farmington finished second.
Maine Maritime’s women’s cross country team opened the 2014 season at the Fourth Annual Mayflower Kickoff with a ninth place finish in a field of 16 teams.
