Women’s Cross Country Fourth at Colby; Fourteenth at Keene in Split Squad Outings

CASTINE, Maine – Women's cross country competed in two different invitational races on Saturday, dividing the team up between the Keene State College Invitational and the Colby College Invitational.

 

Keene State College Invitational

 

Among the 156 runners on the 5k course, Olivia Osborne (Newcastle, Maine) led the Mariners with her 89th overall finish, 55th among team runners. Gabrielle Wells (Kittery, Maine) and Ellie Perkins (Kennebunk, Maine) finished back-to-back for 146th and 147th overall.

 

The Mariners earned an overall team score of 418, placing fourteenth.

 

Keene State took their own invite with 34 team points, despite Brandeis placing the top two runners, Maddie Dolins (18:46) and Kelsey Whitaker (18:54).

 

Colby College Invitational

 

Colby College grabbed the team championship with 21 points, followed by Thomas College, Husson, and then Maine Maritime.

 

Colby's Nordic team placed the top two runners with Emma Wood taking first with her time of 20:29.52. Amy Bianco placed second with her time of 20:45.37. Amanda Cotter placed third, as the first NAC runner to cross the finish line.

 

Caroline Martin (Scarborough, Maine ) paced the Mariners with her 15th place finish overall with a time of 23:32.70. Elin Sonesson (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) placed 24th overall among the 92 runners.

 

Maine Maritime returns to action on October 18th when they will compete in the State of Mine Championship at the University of Maine at Farmington.
