Mariners Take 37th at UMass.-Dartmouth Invitational

NORTH DARMOUTH, Mass. –  Maine Maritime Academy women's cross country placed 37th out of 40 teams on Saturday at the UMass.-Dartmouth Invitational. 

Freshman Olivia Smith (Skowhegan, Maine) led the Mariners with a time of 24:37 on the 5K course to finish 243rd out of 299 runners. Smith was followed by teammate Abigail L'Abbé (Topsham, Maine) in 247 place, Alex Allen (Easton, Maine) in 257th, Sierra James (Campton, N.H.) in 258th and Julia Dillon (Norway, Maine) in 265th.

New England College's Abby Shafer took the top spot with a time of 17:54, and Assumption claimed the team victory with three runners in the top 10.

The Mariners return to action next weekend when they host the Mariner Invitational in Belfast at the Troy Howard Middle School on Saturday, September 23.
