James Leads Women's Cross Country at UMPI Invitational

PRESQUE ISLE., Maine – Senior Sierra James (Campton, N.H.) placed third overall at Saturday's University of Maine at Presque Isle Invitational to lead Maine Maritime Academy women's cross country to a second place finish. 

James finished the 5K course with a time of 23:40.5, while junior teammate Abigail L'Abbé (Topsham, Maine) placed fifth with a time of 27:05.1 and freshman Joanna Howard (Eliot, Maine) was closely behind in sixth place with a time of 27:29.3.

Senior Alex Allen (Easton, Maine) finished in eighth overall with a time of 28:36.5 and Robyn Larrabee (Caribou, Maine) finished 11th to round out the top five runners for the Mariners.

UMPI's Degiovanni Vanentine finished just ahead of teammate Irina Norkin to claim the top spot with a time of 22:36.5.

The Mariners return to action next Saturday when they host the Mariner Invitational at the Troy Howard Middle School in Belfast, Maine.
