James Navigates the Mariners at State of Maine Championships

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's cross country finished 16th at the State of Maine Championship on Saturday afternoon, hosted by Bowdoin College.

Sierra James (Campton, N.H.) led the squad with a 97th place finish out of the 247 runners, finishing the 6K course with a time of 25:54.5.

Joanna Howard (Eliot, Maine) placed 204th with a time of 29:49.2, followed by Abigail L'Abbé (Topsham, Maine) in 206th with a time of 29:50.5. Alex Allen (Easton, Maine) finished 214th and Catherine Cornell (Portland, Maine) placed 229th to round out the top five finisher for the Mariners.

Brandeis University took the team victory among the 18 teams, led by the race's top finisher, Emily Bryson who completed the course in 21:36.7.

The Mariners return to action on October 13 at the Green Mountain Invitational in Poultney, Vermont.
