PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's cross country team took runner up honors at the UMPI Invitational with three runners finishing in the top 10, on Saturday.
Senior Abigail L'Abbé (Topsham, Maine) paced the Mariners, finishing sixth on the 5K course with a time of 25:50.0. Freshman Lily Cook (Southwest Harbor, Maine) made her collegiate debut, finishing seventh with a time of 26:06.0, and freshman Milo Cook-Sharp (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) finished 10th with a time of 27:36.0, in her debut.
Fifth year Nerissa Cyr (Caribou, Maine) finished in 13th place with a time of 28:57, while senior Jessica Lindsay (Limestone, Maine) rounded out the top five finishers for the Mariners with a time of 33:15.0.
University of Maine at Farmington's Katie LeBlanc took first place out of 21 runners with a time of 22:41.0.
UMF took home first place team honors with a total team time of 114:22.0, Maine Maritime took second with a team time of 141:44.0 and University of Maine at Presque Isle finished third with a time of 145:47.0.
The Mariners return to action next Saturday, September 7 when they travel to Vermont to race in the NVU-Lyndon Invitational at 12:00 pm.
