WATERVILLE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's cross country competed at the State of Maine Championships, finishing ninth out of 10 teams on Saturday.
Senior Abigail L'Abbé (Topsham, Maine) was the Mariners' top finisher, placing 89th out of 143 runners on the 5K course, with a time of 24:38.9. Freshman Lily Cook (Southwest Harbor, Maine) finished right behind L'Abbe in 90th with a time of 24:42.1.
Freshman Milo Cook-Sharp (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) finished in 109th with a time of 25:53.2, senior Nerissa Cyr (Caribou, Maine) finished 112th, with a time of 26:07.6 and senior Jessica Lindsay (Limestone, Maine) rounded out the top-five finishers for the Mariners, placing 135 with a time of 31:21.5.
Bates College finished first with a team score of 25, Bowdoin finished second with a score of 32, and Colby College finished third with a score of 81. Bowdoin's Caroline Shipley was the top finisher with a time of 19:10.2.
Maine Maritime returns to action on Saturday, October 19, when they travel to the Suffolk Invitational in Boston, Mass., at 2:30 pm.
